SpaceX Set to Launch Google AI Chips in Orbital Data-Center Test

SpaceX is preparing to launch a Falcon 9 carrying Planet Labs satellites, including a prototype equipped with Google tensor processing units. The mission is the first in-orbit test for Alphabet’s Project Suncatcher, an effort exploring space-based AI computing.
The experiment will test whether abundant solar power and linked satellites can support machine-learning infrastructure beyond Earth. The technical and economic hurdles remain significant, but the launch moves the concept from research toward a live orbital trial.
